Equity Bank Uganda has introduced a new digital banking platform, Equity Online for Business, targeting small and medium-sized enterprises, corporates, and public sector institutions as lenders continue to invest in transaction-led services.
The Equity Online for Business launch, held at Protea Hotel Kampala, marks a transition from the bank’s earlier EazzyBiz tool to a redesigned system built to consolidate payments, liquidity management, and administrative controls into a single interface.
Clare G. Tumwesigye, Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at Equity Bank Uganda, said during the event, “We are gathered to take a step forward in how we support businesses to grow, to thrive and to operate seamlessly, especially in this increasingly digital economy.”
The platform allows firms to manage operations in real time, according to Immaculate Asiimwe, Head of Payments and Channels. “We are giving business owners full control to manage operations in real time. Upload files, pay salaries, approve international transfers. Everything you need is done instantly with no waiting or back-office delays,” she said.
A long-time client, Hassan Abdullah, described the shift from branch-based banking to digital use. He said, “I used to be the first at the bank and the last to leave. Now I run almost everything from my desk or phone. We’re close to 100% digital, and honestly, this is one of the best platforms I’ve seen.”
An executive director at the bank said the system was rebuilt from the ground up with new infrastructure to support higher transaction volumes and faster processing times.
